Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

Congratulations for getting this far! Researching a new therapist is an important first step. The next step from here is for us to spend a few minutes on the phone to make sure we are a good fit. Call or email using the form on the contact page letting me know best times to reach you, and I will contact you within one business day. We will spend about 15 minutes on the phone to get acquainted. I will ask you very general questions about what you wish to get out of therapy, and I will share with you my approach and how I think I can be helpful. If you’d like to move forward, we will schedule an in-person first session in my office and I will email you the intake paperwork to fill in electronically prior to session.

What are your fees, and do you take insurance?

My fees are competitive with what similar-experienced therapists in the area charge. Please contact me for my current rates. I am not in-network with any insurance companies, however some PPO plans offer generous out-of-network benefits.  If you wish to submit claims for out-of-network benefits, I will have them submitted for you as a courtesy on your behalf, so you do not have to bother with the insurance paperwork yourself.

Do you work weekends?

I do not work weekends, but I do have some early evening availability. I’m happy to work around your schedule to find a time that works for you Monday through Friday.

What should I expect in the first session?

We will pick up where we left off on the phone and will further explore what brings you to therapy and how I can best serve you. In this first session you will have a chance to get a better feel of my style and how I’ll be able to support you in our work together. From there, we would schedule a follow-up session if appropriate.

How often do we meet?

For the best results, weekly sessions are recommended and are particularly important at the start of therapy.

How long does therapy last?

During the course of our work together, I will be keeping your goals in mind and we will be checking in periodically on your progress. The length of time it takes to reach those goals varies widely and depends in part on the scope and complexity of what is worked on and the consistency of therapy.

I look forward to getting started with you!
