EMDR

You may choose to come mainly for a course of EMDR treatment or to incorporate EMDR as part of a broader psychotherapy. As an EMDR Certified therapist, I have the experience and training to work with even the most complex traumas.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a scientifically supported method that targets trauma in the emotional center of the brain. It has been endorsed by The American Psychiatric Association and the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs for the treatment of PTSD and has several applications as a powerful self-improvement tool.

How does EMDR Work?

Often people realize past traumas and their impact is getting in the way of their daily lives, but traditional talk therapy or positive self-talk has not been enough to move them past the pain. This is because trauma remains stuck in the body and emotional areas of the brain that don’t have direct access to the logical parts of the brain that know better. EMDR is designed to “link up” the emotional and logical regions of the brain so that trauma can be properly processed and integrated.
